Signature Homes - New Home Builder in the Bay Area

Summer is almost here and it’s a great time to head outdoors and enjoy dining alfresco in a beautiful setting. Picnicking is one of the best ways to unwind from the work week and a favorite activity of locals and tourists alike. With so many scenic and spacious areas to choose from, we’ve selected a handful of spectacular spots and included a perfect picnic menu to add to your basket.

Del Valle Regional Park is located 10 miles south of Livermore with a 5 mile long lake popular for a variety of water-oriented recreation including fishing and surrounded by 4,395 acres of oak-covered hills for hiking, horseback riding, and nature study. The park offers a number of picnic areas with barbecue pits and tables, in addition to two swimming beaches, boat rentals, fishing and campsites. Take along grilled veggie and hummus wraps, mozzarella, tomato and basil skewers, a refreshing watermelon hibiscus lime cooler and fresh watermelon slices to top off the meal.

Mount Diablo State Park isn’t particularly tall as mountains go, standing at only 3,849 feet. However, it is surrounded by low, rolling hills and broad, flat valleys, so the view from the Summit is remarkable. When conditions are best, you can see almost 200 miles. There are more than 50 picnic sites, each with table and barbeque stove, scattered along the park’s paved roads, ideal for a picnic in the park. Take along a perfectly packed Asian noodle mason jar salad, cold buttermilk-marinated fried chicken, infused water to keep you hydrated and a strawberry hand pie for dessert.

Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within it’s nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. Picnic areas are available throughout Yosemite on a first-come, first-served basis from dawn to dusk. Take along packable and picnic-friendly eggplant, prosciutto and pesto pressed picnic sandwiches, pasta fruit salad, s’mores cookies to add a dash of sweetness and mint-ginger iced tea to wash it down.
