Lathrop, California
Living at Clearwater at River Islands means being surrounded by holiday cheer, with family-friendly events throughout Lathrop and the River Islands master-planned community.
Lathrop Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting
Kick off the season at Lathrop’s beloved annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 6th. This community celebration brings neighbors together for an evening filled with festive floats, sparkling lights, and joyful holiday spirit.
Reserve a timeslot on Saturday, December 13th from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Lathrop Community Center for a special family photo with Santa. The $30 package includes two craft kits and a half-dozen donuts—perfect for creating sweet holiday memories.
River Islands also offers a full lineup of seasonal festivities:
- Photos with Santa – Sunday, Dec. 14th at the River Islands Welcome Center
- Drive-By Light Show – Monday, December 15th, starting at 6:30 p.m. Decorate your car, queue up the holiday tunes, and follow Santa throughout the community!
- Additional fun includes a house lighting contest, giving tree program, and food bank drive, creating even more opportunities to get involved and give back.
Lodi, California
Lodi transforms into a charming holiday destination filled with festive events for families at Lumina at Reynolds Ranch to enjoy.
On Thursday, December 4th, downtown Lodi glows with more than 80 illuminated floats, marching bands, dance teams, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Throughout December, Hutchins Street Square also hosts live music and dance performances.
From December 5–7, Micke Grove Park becomes a winter wonderland during the annual Festival of Trees. Enjoy beautifully decorated trees, craft stations, live entertainment, and visits with Santa in a cozy, family-focused setting.
A cherished local tradition, the Lodi Fire Department’s vintage “Santa Truck” rolls through city neighborhoods December 8–18, handing out candy canes and collecting canned goods to support families in need.
Lights of Lodi Wine Trolley Tour
For adults (21+), hop aboard the festive Wine Trolley for a holiday lights tour paired with wine and cider tastings. Tours run December 5-21, or explore seasonal events happening at Lodi’s many award-winning wineries.
Sacramento, California
Residents of Balboa, Catalina, and Coronado at Delta Shores are just a short drive from some of the most magical holiday events in Sacramento. Here are some local favorites:
The Polar Express Train Ride — at California State Railroad Museum
Families can board the Polar Express from Old Sacramento’s Central Pacific Passenger Station for an enchanting journey to the “North Pole” thru December 21st. The ride includes hot chocolate, cookies, holiday storytelling, and a special visit from Santa — who hands out a silver sleigh bell as the first gift of Christmas.
Theatre of Lights – Old Sacramento Waterfront
Enjoy this free, immersive 20-minute retelling of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”, brought to life with stunning projections and live performers along the historic K Street balconies through December 24th.
Imaginarium Holiday Light Festival at Cal Expo
This dazzling festival features extraordinary light installations, interactive displays, entertainment, and rides—an unforgettable holiday adventure for all ages thru January 4th.
Downtown Ice Rink
Glide into the season and make the most of the winter weather at the Downtown Sacramento ice rink in Ali Youssefi Square – open through January 19th.
